Why take the Steam Train to Cheltenham Racecourse?

This nostalgic experience not only allows you and your guests to arrive in style, but ensures you avoid all the race traffic in and around the course. You will glide past the queues of cars whilst enjoying a pint of Guinness, glass of Champagne or beverage of your choice. Journeying by steam train is a great way to ensure a smooth arrival for you and your guests without the added stress of getting small or large groups in and out of the venue.

Toddington Railway Station is ideally situated in a congestion-free part of the Cotswolds and is easily accessible for clients travelling from all over the UK. There is ample free hard-surface parking for cars and coaches alike. Once you arrive on the platform, you will be transported into a bygone era where you can relax and indulge in this remarkable setting. You can sing along to the live band performing on the platform whilst you enjoy a glass of fizz from the Champagne bar before you board the train. This is a great way to get you in the mood for a fantastic day’s racing.

Once on the steam train, you and your guests will have allocated seating, ensuring you are all together. Each seat has access to a table so guests have plenty of room to open their racing posts and do some last minute form study. A full cash bar is available throughout the outbound and return journey where tea, coffee, beers, wines, soft drinks and Champagne are available to purchase, all served to your seat by our stewards.

The steam trains departs Toddington Station each morning of the Festival and embark on a 35-minute journey through the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds, Malverns and Vale of Evesham. You arrive at Cheltenham Racecourse Station, situated just a furlong from the Paddock and opposite the North Entrance, relaxed and excited for the day ahead, having passed all the other racegoers stressed and frustrated as they battle with the traffic. A very amusing sight!

The steam train departs Cheltenham Racecourse approximately 30-45 minutes after the last race has finished, leaving you plenty of time to collect any winnings, finish your hospitality and return to the platform. With Champagne in hand, sit back and wave at the passing traffic as you steam past the queues of cars, arriving back at Toddington having enjoyed a memorable day at the races.
